Hey! I’m Mel, a community developer working in video games by day and a music-obsessed/dirty-chai fueled writer by night.

About Me

I am an avid reader of post-apocalyptic and historical fiction, a lover of story-driven games and chronic coffee addict. I’m happiest when my head is filled with music. I’ve always been mesmerized by how the words between the pages of a book or within the story of a game can make you believe in magic. It’s probably why I began filling up notebooks at a young age - to keep that feeling of magic alive.

Resume

After graduating college with a degree in literature, I wrote for several blogs (focusing on topics such as lifestyle, gaming and music) and explored what I felt most driven to write about — as it turns out, I will always choose fiction over fact! I am forever writing on the side about magical mishaps, awkward humans and meet-cutes set against dystopic backdrops.

Since 2020, I have been working as a community developer in the gaming industry! For a few years, I worked simultaneously at Folklore Games (devs of Spiral) and Ratloop Games Canada (devs of Lemnis Gate and NO LOVE LOST). My latest adventure has brought me to Ubisoft Montreal, where I’m currently working as a Community Developer on R6S!

“Just close your eyes and keep your mind wide open.”

— Katherine Paterson, Bridge to Terabithia

Whether it be through novels, interactive fiction, short stories, poetry or articles, I’m always looking for new and inspiring ways to get my thoughts out.

Check out my portfolio to see what I’ve worked on and step into a few of the worlds that are orbiting around my brain! :)
